Losing your Scholarship after being Arrested

You could risk losing your scholarship after being arrested as a college student. Call us today to learn how we can help.

Question:

What happens to my scholarship if I’m arrested in Connecticut?

Answer:

If you’re a college student on scholarship and you get arrested in Connecticut, it’s going to depend on the seriousness of your charge and whatever your outcome of your case is whether or not you will lose or retain that scholarship. If it’s a standard kind of Pell Grant or some other kind of grant that they give college students, regardless of whether they have any problems with the law, then that’s not going to affect you. If you are on some kind of really awesome financial aid package from Quinnipiac or from some other great school in Connecticut, however, and you get arrested for something, there’s a very good chance that you’re going to lose that scholarship, only because there’s other college students out there that don’t have any problems with the law and the college, agency, or organization that’s giving the scholarship can easily say, “We’ve got lots of other kids that can qualify for this who don’t have any kind of criminal record, so we’re going to pull this from you.”

Yes, you can lose a scholarship if you are a student in Connecticut and you get arrested. If you’re doing that and you need my help, just call me. I’d be happy to talk with you.
